"Emmy-statue-etbscreenwriting"Emmy® Fun Fact: The image orthicon tube which was often found in early television cameras was nicknamed Immy. The word Emmy® was the feminine derivative from Immy. Complimenting the femininity surrounding this prestigious award, a statuette of the winged female figure holding an atom has become the longtime symbol of the TV Academy. The wings represent the muse of art, the atom the electron of science. Prior to Emmy®, originally “Ike” was going to be the official name of the award, however because of the name being so closely associated with Dwight D. Eisenhower the group decided on “Emmy®.”
